JUST In: Moses Opens Up on Captaincy amid Gutherson Saga

Moses’ captaincy admission amid Gutherson saga

Moses admitted the reality of the current contract situation is simply part of the sport.

“I think it’d be tough for everyone. It’s a tough situation for him to be in, it’s a tough situation for Parramatta to be in, that’s football at the moment,” he told 9News Sydney.

“It’s a tough sport, it’s pretty ruthless. He’s a quality player, he’s been so big for the club for so long, but he’s not gone yet.”

With Gutherson’s departure possibly imminent, the next question could be who replaces him as Eels captain.

Moses declared he’d be ready to take on that role “any time”.

“I’d be open to it but Gutho is our captain at the moment so we’ll let (coach Jason) Ryles decide that,” he said while admitting he’s “excited” to work with the new coach.

Moses spoke to 9News from New Zealand, where he’s preparing to play the Kiwis.

Crichton ‘always knew’ Aussie dream was alive

The halfback made his Kangaroos debut against Tonga last week with Nathan Cleary unavailable due to injury.

Moses admitted at 30, he thought the chance to wear the green and gold was well behind him.

The halfback starred for NSW this year in Cleary’s absence and has presented a selection headache for Blues selectors next year.

The Eels star still conceded both the Aussie and NSW jerseys belong to Cleary.

“It’s pretty much his jersey to be honest,” he said.

“I’ve been very open about that with the Origin jersey as well, it’s his. I’d love to play with him to be honest, one day, that’d be pretty special.”
