BREAKING: Former Eels Playmaker Signs with Tigers for 2025

NRL Talent Daejarn Asi Joins Castleford Tigers in Blockbuster Move, Ushering in a New Era for Super League Club!

Daejarn Asi, a former playmaker for the Parramatta Eels, has officially signed with the Castleford Tigers in the Super League after not receiving a contract extension from his previous club for the 2025 NRL season. Asi spent the last two years with the Eels following previous stints with the North Queensland Cowboys and New Zealand Warriors.

He was among 11 players farewelled by Parramatta at their end-of-season awards night, marking the end of his time in Australia’s premier rugby league competition.

At 24, Asi has built a solid foundation in his NRL career, appearing in 14 matches this past season, covering both centre and halves positions. A two-time Samoan international, Asi has shown potential and versatility but has yet to fully establish himself as a consistent starter in the NRL.

Throughout his five-year career, he has also gained experience playing in the NSW and QLD Cup competitions, awaiting the opportunity for more regular first-team action.

Castleford Tigers, in announcing Asi’s signing on a two-year contract that will run until the end of the 2026 season, praised his potential and experience. Danny Wilson, Castleford’s Director of Rugby Operations, expressed excitement over the addition, noting Asi’s depth of NRL experience as an asset that will bring quality to their squad.

Asi joins as the fourth new signing for the Tigers as they look to reinvigorate their roster under incoming head coach Danny McGuire. He will reunite with former teammate Zac Cini at Castleford, with the club anticipating an exciting new era.
