Lions Could Make Blockbuster Move for $94 Million NFL Star By Jonathan Adams, Athlon Sports
As the NFL trade deadline on Nov. 5 nears, the Detroit Lions have a chance to make a major acquisition to strengthen their Super Bowl hopes. One option could be adding a seasoned pass rusher to fill the gap left by Aidan Hutchinson.
Chris Licata of Athlon Sports outlined “dream” trade possibilities for multiple teams, including the Lions. Detroit fans would be thrilled by the idea of landing a three-time Pro Bowler, though the likelihood is low.
Currently, the Las Vegas Raiders’ season is struggling with a 2-7 record, leading to trade rumors surrounding star pass rusher Maxx Crosby.
“Raiders owner Mark Davis has insisted that Crosby is untouchable,” Licata wrote on Nov. 3. “But words are just words. A short-term trade for Za’Darius Smith might be more realistic for the Lions.”
“However, looking beyond this season, the lack of depth behind Hutchinson remains a concern.”
Crosby’s four-year, $94 million deal extends through 2026. ESPN’s Adam Schefter noted that the Raiders are unwilling to move Crosby, but what would it take if they changed course?
Former Atlanta Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff previously estimated that Crosby could require at least two future first-round picks and potentially a third-rounder.
Would Detroit be willing to make such a bold offer to the Raiders? Hutchinson and Crosby could form an elite pass-rushing tandem when Hutchinson is back.
