Washington enters this inter-conference matchup as a slight favorite at home.
When the Pittsburgh Steelers face the Washington Commanders on Sunday, it will mark one of only two games in the NFL’s Week 10 featuring teams with six or more wins this season. The other matchup, on Sunday Night Football, pits the Lions against the Texans. Despite being an early game, this clash is significant as it involves two division leaders.
The Steelers return from their bye week on a three-game winning streak and have recently acquired wide receiver Mike Williams from the New York Jets in exchange for a fifth-round pick at the NFL trade deadline. Pittsburgh had been looking for a receiver since summer to support QB Russell Wilson and finally found one.
On the other hand, the Commanders were also active in trades, securing top cornerback Marshon Lattimore from New Orleans. In the deal, New Orleans receives a third-rounder, a fourth-rounder, and a sixth-rounder while sending Lattimore and a fifth-round pick to Washington, as reported by CBS Sports insider Jonathan Jones. This addition should enhance the Commanders’ pass defense, which currently ranks 26th in dropback success rate allowed this season—a more indicative stat than simply passing yards allowed. Lattimore has been dealing with a hamstring injury, so his availability for this weekend needs to be observed.
Injury updates are also critical, particularly for Commanders starting RB Brian Robinson (hamstring), who was close to playing last week after three limited practices but was ultimately ruled out. The Steelers, coming off the bye, should have a relatively clean injury report this week. Pittsburgh’s center Zach Frazier (ankle), tackle Dylan Cook (foot), linebacker Nick Herbig (hamstring), and linebacker Tyler Matakevich (hamstring) missed playing time in Week 8.
