LSU Penalized by SEC for Fan Misconduct During Alabama Game

LSU is facing consequences after fans threw debris onto the field during their game against Alabama.

On Monday, the SEC announced that LSU would be fined $250,000 for “disrupting its contest against Alabama when fans threw debris onto the field.”

The penalty will go to the SEC’s post-graduate scholarship fund, differing from field-storming fines where the payment is made to the visiting team.

During the second half, LSU fans hurled trash following a facemask penalty on third down that extended an Alabama drive. While many fans booed, some threw debris.

“Please refrain from throwing debris onto the field,” announced the Tiger Stadium public address system as objects landed on the grass. “Do not throw debris onto the field.”

Debris was thrown again when a pass to Kyren Lacy was ruled incomplete after review. Alabama ended up winning 42-13.

As per SEC policy, LSU must identify the fans responsible using available video footage and ban them from all LSU athletic events for the remainder of the school year. Additionally, the university is required to review and enhance game management procedures and submit a report detailing these actions to the SEC.

“The Conference is not suspending alcohol sales privileges for LSU at this time, but may do so if the outlined requirements are not met,” stated the SEC’s announcement.
