Detroit Lions left tackle Taylor Decker appeared on the practice report last Thursday with a shoulder injury that ultimately kept him out of the Week 10 game against the Houston Texans. However, head coach Dan Campbell shared an optimistic update on Wednesday, expressing hope that Decker will be able to suit up in Week 11 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
“As of right now, I do feel better about having Decker this week,” Campbell stated. “He was out there at walkthrough, going through practice. I feel like he is questionable, but I’m starting to feel like—I think he’s going to be able to make it. Tomorrow will tell a lot, certainly, that’ll be a full-speed practice for us.”
Decker, who admitted feeling guilty about missing the Texans game, also acknowledged the decision to sit out was the right one, given the circumstances.
### Taylor Decker Reveals Details of His Shoulder Injury
Decker clarified that the injury—a rotator cuff strain—occurred during practice, and he shared some background on his shoulder’s history.
“It happened in practice, yeah. Rotator cuff strain, and then I’ve had shoulder surgery on this shoulder before with the labrum,” he said. “Just irritated the labrum a little bit, and the week prior I had a pec strain on the same side. I know the play that happened that caused it, but I don’t know if it was maybe a compensation thing or whatnot. Hopefully, it’s not too long term.”
Decker had surgery in 2017 to repair a torn labrum, which caused him to miss the first half of that season. As of Wednesday’s practice report, Decker was limited, but a full practice on Thursday will be a significant indicator of his chances to return on Sunday.
