The Lions’ safety group features Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph, with undrafted rookies Loren Strickland and Brandon Joseph providing depth.

Detroit holds the league’s best record at 11-1 after edging the Chicago Bears 23-20 on Thanksgiving.

Three of their final five regular-season games will be against NFC North rivals, including a prime-time “Thursday Night Football” matchup against the Green Bay Packers this week.

Jamal Adams, a 2017 first-round pick by the New York Jets, earned All-Pro honors in 2019 and has amassed 498 tackles, 36 pass deflections, 21.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles, and four interceptions in his career.

However, he hasn’t played more than nine games in a season since 2021 with the Seahawks due to injuries, including a torn shoulder labrum in January 2021, a quad tear in September 2022, and a knee strain in December 2023.

“God is good,” Adams posted on X Saturday evening. Two days later, Detroit addressed their defensive injuries again.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Lions are signing the three-time Pro Bowl safety to their practice squad, with plans to elevate him to the active roster.

The 29-year-old appeared in three games for the Titans this season before being released on his birthday, October 17. Now in his eighth NFL season, the Lions will be Adams’ fourth team.
