Liverpool are planning to sign an “incredible” Premier League star in January
Liverpool are reportedly planning to sign AFC Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly, who has been a late target for the Reds this summer, in January. According to reporter Dean Jones, the 24-year-old Premier League star could be on Liverpool’s radar as plans for the January transfer window begin. Liverpool did not sign a defender in the summer as a midfield overhaul became a priority following the sale of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, with James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain leaving in free time.
But Liverpool now look set to address the issue in the new year and Kelly could be a target for Jurgen Klopp’s side if a deal is agreed with Bournemouth. Called an “incredible” player by former Cherries boss Gary O’Neil, Kelly showed with Bournemouth that he is more than ready to break into the Premier League’s top six. And Liverpool could be that club this January, as the Reds need defensive depth and long-term replacements for Joel Matip and Joe Gomez. Liverpool are expected to make Kelly their top target in January. Kelly is one of the most underrated defenders in the Premier League and for Liverpool, the 24-year-old could be an exceptional signing for the future. The Bournemouth star has proven himself in a number of defensive positions and would be a welcome addition to a club like Liverpool when numbers are short at the back.
Bournemouth may also be tempted to sell if there is a big enough offer Liverpool could make if they feel Kelly is worth the investment.
