“I’ve Lost All Respect” for George Russell
Max Verstappen has openly criticized George Russell following a penalty issued during the Qatar Grand Prix.
The reigning world champion expressed frustration with the Mercedes driver’s involvement in the incident that led to the penalty. Verstappen received a one-place grid penalty for obstructing Russell by driving unnecessarily slowly during Saturday’s qualifying session.
This decision pushed Verstappen’s Red Bull off pole position, placing him behind Russell on the starting grid.
Verstappen voiced his discontent after their meeting with the stewards, describing Russell’s behavior during the discussion as disappointing.
Reflecting on the experience, Verstappen remarked:
“I was quite surprised in the stewards’ room with everything that unfolded. Honestly, it was very disappointing. We are all here to respect one another, and throughout my career, I’ve been in similar meetings countless times. I have never encountered someone attempting to undermine another driver so blatantly.
