LSU Loses Former Five-Star Da’Shawn Womack and Jordan Allen to Transfer Portal.

Da’Shawn Womack and Jordan Allen, both former five-star talents, leave LSU through the transfer portal.

The LSU football program has faced a tumultuous few weeks, shifting focus from the current season to preparing the roster for 2025 and beyond. The Tigers have encountered setbacks in recruiting, losing key targets such as Bryce Underwood, Devin Harper, Jesse Harrold, and Kade Phillips in recent weeks.

With the transfer portal now open, LSU has also seen departures from Rickie Collins, Landon Ibieta, and CJ Daniels, as well as the latest exits: edge rusher Da’Shawn Womack and safety Jordan Allen.

The departure of Womack is particularly significant. Despite limited playing time, he showed flashes of potential that suggested he could have been a major contributor to the 2025 team. However, with standout performances from Bradyn Swinson and Sai’vion Jones this season, Womack struggled to find consistent opportunities on the field. His absence in the final three games of the season further impacted his development. Now, with Swinson, Womack, and Jones all departing, the edge rusher position becomes a top priority for LSU.

Jordan Allen’s entry into the transfer portal comes as a surprise, especially considering his injury struggles this season. Before getting injured, Allen had been a key contributor and looked poised to secure a starting role in 2025. Although LSU has a strong group of young safeties and new recruits joining the team, Allen’s departure is unexpected given the potential for increased playing time at the position.

Overall, the Tigers have lost only one returning starter and a few players with the potential to start next season. While no departures have been shocking or devastating so far, the losses highlight the challenges LSU faces in building its roster for the future.
