BYU Football DB Crew Wakley Enters NCAA Transfer Portal
PROVO, Utah – BYU starting safety Crew Wakley has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal.
Wakley joined BYU as a walk-on transfer from Utah State and played two seasons with the program.
The former Jordan High School quarterback became one of BYU’s top safeties during the 2024 season, earning a starting role in week three against Wyoming. He retained the position for the rest of BYU’s 10-2 campaign.

The news of Wakley’s portal entry was first reported by On3 and later confirmed by KSL Sports.
In the 2024 season, Wakley recorded 44 tackles, one sack, and two interceptions. One of his interceptions secured a 34-28 victory over Baylor when he picked off QB Sawyer Robertson.
Wakley is not expected to participate with BYU in the upcoming Alamo Bowl against Colorado later this month.
Over his two years with the Cougars, the 6-foot, 200-pound safety logged 103 tackles, seven pass deflections, one sack, and three interceptions. He started 16 games and played both free and strong safety positions.
Wakley has one year of collegiate eligibility remaining.
The NCAA Transfer Portal for undergraduate transfers opened on Monday, December 9, and will remain active through December 28.
