Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is hopeful that star linebacker T.J. Watt will be ready to play in Saturday’s game against the Ravens despite a recent ankle injury.

Watt twisted his left ankle during the fourth quarter of Pittsburgh’s 27-13 loss to Philadelphia on Sunday.

Following the game, Watt confirmed that X-rays on the ankle came back negative and that he was in a “wait and see” situation regarding his availability. Tomlin mentioned that Watt was seen walking around the team’s facility on Monday without significant issues. Despite the loss, Watt had a standout performance, recording two sacks and forcing a fumble. Tomlin defended keeping him on the field late in the game, emphasizing his commitment to winning.

Additionally, there is a possibility that injured players, including wide receiver George Pickens (hamstring), safety DeShon Elliott (hamstring), and defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi (groin), could return to practice this week. Pittsburgh’s passing game has struggled in Pickens’ absence, with quarterback Russell Wilson averaging just 143 yards per game in the last two contests.
