The Detroit Lions suffered losses on the scoreboard and to the roster of injuries.
I’ll begin with the Buffalo Bills’ 48–42 defeat. I was right when I predicted that the Bills would win this game. In this football game, I thought the Lions’ defensive injuries would spell disaster, and I was right. On offence, the Buffalo Bills were free to do whatever they wanted. Josh Allen had enough time to throw the football or write a letter to his mother at least ten times, as far as I could count. Josh displayed striking numbers that were astounding. For a season-high 362 yards of passing, how about 23 of 34? Josh ran it himself on 11 carries for 68 yards when he wasn’t throwing the pigskin, I say.
I can assure you that the Lions defence, with its obvious issues, gave them a slap in the face when they faced a top-tier NFL quarterback. I want to yell, “Enough is enough!” after the injuries to David Montgomery, Carlton Davis III, and Alim McNeill. On the plus side, Jared Goff threw 494 yards and five touchdowns, a career best, throughout a losing game.

I genuinely believed that our Motor City Kitties would have a wonderful season in Motown. I envisioned a parade down Woodward in the City of Detroit and the lifting of a Lombardi Trophy in the Lions’ locker room. I fear that the Lions will be unable to overcome the excess of injuries in 2024. All season long, the delicious flavour of blue Kool Aid seems to have turned into the taste of sewer water. I questioned why it seemed like there was a dark cloud looming over Ford Field for the Lions franchise.
With three games left in the regular season and a postseason berth, I am not given up on the Kitty Kats. I hope the Lions’ defensive line gets healthy so they can contend for the Super Bowl. However, the Fat Guy is becoming tired of the phrase “next man up.” How much more terrible news can the Lions and us supporters handle, I wonder? I can respond on my own behalf — NOT MUCH MORE
Dan Campbell’s onside kick was foolish and unjustifiable. The call really irritated me. The *&%#$ that came out of my mouth was not appropriate for young listeners! This Sunday, the Lions will go to Chicago to try to win a division game. In the Windy City, I expect the Lions to win handily. Bears 23 and Lions 30 according to The Fat Guy. Restore the Roar this Sunday, please!
Indiana will play Notre Dame on Friday, December 20, the first day of the college football playoffs. The Irish are 7.5 favourites, according to the boys in Vegas. I believe that Indiana’s poor schedule will be evident in this match. I predict a 26–17 victory for Notre Dame. SMU vs. Penn State at 12:00 is the first of three playoff games on Saturday’s schedule. The Penn State squad has an eight-point advantage over the SMU Mustangs. Although SMU keeps it close, I prefer the Penn State squad to advance. The Mustangs 20 and the Nittany Lions 24.
Texas is favoured by 11 points in the Clemson vs. Texas game at 4 p.m. The Texas Longhorns should roll 35-16, according to The Fat Guy. I’m mainly interested in watching the late game. Good “Ole Rocky Top” Tennessee hosts the Ohio “Soft” Buckeyes. Tennessee is favoured by a touchdown over the Ryan Day Buckeyes. Can OSU recover from the Michigan defeat, I wonder? They will, in my opinion, win this game 27–24. Cheers to the holidays! Roll the NFL selections.
