4-Star DE Hunter Clegg Flips from Utah to BYU
BYU bolstered its defensive line with the signing of 4-star prospect Hunter Clegg from American Fork. Clegg, initially signed with Utah as part of the 2023 class before leaving on a mission, chose BYU upon returning home last week.
Clegg attracted attention from top programs in high school, earning offers from Oregon, LSU, Oklahoma, USC, Michigan, Stanford, Washington, UCLA, Colorado, Auburn, Baylor, Wisconsin, and others.
Standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 240 pounds, Clegg will join Spring Ball, giving him eight months to prepare for the regular season. With NFL-level talent, Clegg has the potential to become a star during his BYU career.
Expected to play as a defensive end, Clegg is among the top DE prospects from Utah. He brings elite speed, showcased by running the 100- and 200-meter dashes in high school, and is likely to contend for immediate playing time. BYU has lacked a dominant pass rusher since Bronson Kaufusi nearly a decade ago, but Clegg could become one of BYU’s all-time greats at the position.
