In a masterful performance, Jared Goff completed 26 of 34 passes and made connections with Jameson Williams, Sam LaPorta, and Amon-Ra St. to lead the Detroit Lions to a 40-34 victory over the San Francisco 49ers. In addition to winning, Detroit’s victory over the 49ers served as retaliation for their earlier NFC Championship loss to San Francisco, which prevented them from making it to the Super Bowl for the first time. After his team’s victory over the 49ers, Lions supporters show their support for Jared Goff.

‘Jared Goff’ chants were heard as Lions supporters occupied Levi’s Stadium. When the Detroit Lions defeated the San Francisco 49ers 40-34 in Week 17, their fans turned out to support their star quarterback, Jared Goff, who ended the game with a 14-2 season record. The 49ers supporters had already left the stadium after the game, but the Lions supporters stayed put and moved closer to the field as they heard the “Jared Goff” shout reverberating throughout the venue.

Throwing 303 yards, three touchdowns in completion, and going pick-free for the fourth consecutive week, he was dominant in the road victory. With the club aiming for its 14th regular-season victory and gratitude from the devoted fan base, Goff now has 14 touchdowns. The Lions might move closer to their goal of earning the top seed in the NFC North and the NFC overall with a victory over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 18.

In Week 17, both the 49ers and the Lions suffered defeats; the 49ers dropped to 6-10 and the Lions went to 14-2. The Lions’ victory was essential for their NFC North title and No. 1 seed, but the game was entertaining even though both teams were out of the running for the playoffs. The 49ers scored touchdowns on three possessions and amassed 260 yards in the first half. At halftime, their lead was 21–13. But in the second half, Purdy was intercepted twice by Kerby, and Moody missed an extra point and a field goal that would have led to 475 yards.

Joshua Dobbs ended a game against the Patriots for Purdy after he suffered an elbow injury with 1:36 left. Purdy finished 27-of-35 for 377 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions, with a highest passing rating of 158.3.

In 2017, Jared Goff had a breakthrough season as he led the Rams to their first postseason appearance since 2004. Goff was named to the Pro Bowl both seasons and led the Rams to Super Bowl LIII the following season. Goff was dealt to the Lions in 2021 after failing to duplicate the success of his previous two seasons. After leading the Lions to their first postseason victory since 1991 in his third season with the franchise, he ended the NFL’s longest playoff win drought and advanced to the NFC Championship Game.
