Michigan Secures Star Alabama RB via Transfer Portal
Michigan’s strong recruiting streak continued Friday, as the Wolverines added former Alabama running back Justice Haynes to bolster their backfield.
Haynes will join a backfield featuring freshman Jordan Marshall, who impressed with 100 yards on 23 carries during Michigan’s 19-13 Reliaquest Bowl win over Alabama.
The ex-No. 24 overall recruit aims to replace departing seniors Kalel Mullings and Donovan Edwards, who combined for 1,537 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns last season.
Ranked ESPN’s No. 3 running back in the transfer portal, Haynes brings impressive experience. In 2024, he rushed for 448 yards and seven touchdowns at 5.7 yards per carry, including six starts. As a freshman, he added 168 yards and two scores.
The 5-foot-11, 210-pound Buford, Georgia native is the eighth transfer addition for first-year head coach Sherrone Moore. Haynes joins quarterback Mikey Keene (Fresno State), receiver Donaven McCulley (Indiana), and lineman Brady Norton (Cal Poly) as Moore seeks to improve Michigan’s 113th-ranked offense, which averaged 22 points per game.
