BYU Football Secures 4-Star Recruit McKay Madsen
BYU has landed its first four-star recruit for the 2025 class, versatile athlete McKay Madsen, who plans to serve a two-year mission before joining the team upon his return.
BYU football is assembling an impressive 2025 recruiting class. However, it had been missing a standout, blue-chip, four-star recruit to elevate the class.
Now, they have one.
Four-star athlete McKay Madsen, a linebacker and running back from Clovis North High School (Fresno, CA), announced his commitment to BYU on Saturday. His decision came during the 2025 Navy All-American Game.
Ranked by 247Sports as a top-200 overall prospect and the 19th-best linebacker in the class, Madsen boosts BYU’s recruiting rankings as their first four-star prep recruit for 2025.
Madsen chose BYU over offers from Oregon, Arizona, and UCLA, showcasing BYU’s growing ability to compete with power conference programs for top talent.
Last season, Madsen recorded 22 offensive touchdowns and four defensive interceptions.
Reports suggest Madsen will get a chance to play running back at BYU, a factor that played a key role in his commitment to the Cougars.
Madsen now surpasses Austin Pay as the highest-rated recruit in BYU’s 2025 class.
Although part of the 2025 class, Madsen plans to serve a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, joining BYU in 2027.
When he returns, Madsen is expected to be one of the most talented athletes on BYU’s roster.
