Former Lions QB Could Take Over as Head Coach for Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly considering former Detroit Lions quarterback Kellen Moore as a potential candidate for their open head coaching position.

The Cowboys recently completed a virtual interview with Moore, who is currently in his first season as the offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Moore’s long history with the Cowboys makes him a natural fit for the role.

Moore’s NFL career has been heavily defined by his time with the Cowboys.

After a brief stint with the Lions from 2012 to 2014, Moore joined the Cowboys as a backup quarterback from 2015 to 2017.

His strong work ethic and deep understanding of the game quickly led him to a coaching position, and in 2018, he became the Cowboys’ quarterbacks coach.

In 2019, Moore was promoted to offensive coordinator, a position he held until 2022, working under both Jason Garrett and Mike McCarthy.

During his time as offensive coordinator, Moore gained recognition for his ability to connect with quarterbacks and implement innovative offensive strategies.

His work helped elevate the Cowboys’ offensive play, and his reputation for creativity and leadership earned him significant attention within the organization.

After leaving the Cowboys, Moore joined the Los Angeles Chargers in 2023 as their offensive coordinator.

There, he demonstrated his ability to enhance offensive efficiency, helping the team remain competitive in a tough division.

His performance with the Chargers added to his growing reputation as a skilled and adaptable coach.

Currently with the Philadelphia Eagles, Moore continues to refine his offensive approach as the team’s offensive coordinator.

His progression from backup quarterback to coordinator at multiple teams has provided him with valuable experience, making him a strong contender for a head coaching role.

Moore’s strong ties to the Cowboys, coupled with his proven track record in developing high-performing offenses, make him an appealing candidate for the head coaching position.

His deep familiarity with the franchise and his success as both a player and coach would allow for a smooth transition into the head coach role.

Having worked with top quarterbacks and developed successful offensive strategies, Moore’s leadership could be the key to helping the Cowboys contend for a Super Bowl once again.

While his future with Dallas is still uncertain, Moore’s experience, leadership qualities, and connection to the Cowboys could make him an ideal choice to lead the team into the next chapter.
