Only pet owners understand the feeling of losing someone they have cherished as if they were their own kids. At this moment, Russell and Ciara Wilson fully understand what it feels like. Following 12 enduring years of companionship, Russell Wilson, the quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, has sadly lost his cherished pet—Prince, a Great Dane. Numerous celebrities, such as La La Anthony, have stepped up to express their condolences after he announced the Great Dane’s death on his social media.

Russell Wilson and his wife Ciara are devastated by the death of Prince.

Russell Wilson shared the news of Prince’s death with a sincere message on his Instagram. He got Prince in 2012 when he was beginning his journey in the NFL as a newcomer. Given his time with the Seattle Seahawks, Russell Wilson had a connection to Prince, making this loss feel particularly personal for him. Anyone who was acquainted with Russell also knew Prince, his closest companion since he began his professional journey. On his Instagram, the Steelers quarterback posted:

‘Prince’ 12 years ago you came into my life. I got you my rookie year & you have been a blessing to our family with so many memories, hugs, and kisses from our 4 kids and us…”

He went on to mention that it had been a challenging day and recounted Prince’s difficult days with his supporters. The Great Dane had triumphed over numerous challenges in his 12 years — notably beating cancer two times. He concluded the post with “Heaven received a great one!” Eternally the Sovereign of Serenity. “Adore you.”

His spouse, singer-songwriter and artist Ciara, was equally devastated by the loss of Prince. For the first time this year, she turned to her Instagram to express her sorrow, stating

“Always by our side.” Always in our hearts. Eternally grateful for the wonderful memories you provided us. We will deeply miss you and will always cherish you, Prince! 💖

The Wilson family undoubtedly finds it difficult to bid farewell to their cherished Great Dane. However, having someone for 12 long years and then losing them is harsh. And not only the Wilsons, many other celebrities and fans have also sent the family messages of love and support.

La La Anthony and various celebrities express their sincere sympathies.

La La Anthony, the former spouse of NBA star Carmelo Anthony, has maintained a friendship with Ciara and the Wilson family for many years. Learning about Prince’s passing was difficult for her too. She posted a sincere remark under Russell’s update, saying, “Prince! We will greatly miss you!

Ex-basketball player and Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman expressed her sincere condolences, saying, “Wow I understand you, Russell.” Apologies. Referred to as Lady Magic, Lieberman gained recognition during her time with the Dallas Diamonds, the team where she secured the WABA championship and WABA MVP title in 1984.

Wilson’s fellow players – Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen and receiver Calvin Austin also made remarks under the post. It’s not only the family that will miss Prince; friends and fans have also been sending messages of sympathy ever since the news broke. This simply demonstrates how much Prince was cherished.
