Chelsea’s plans for Mathis Amougou and Andrey Santos disclosed
While neither Chelsea nor AS Saint-Étienne have officially confirmed it, Mathis Amougou (19) is now regarded as a Chelsea player, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The two clubs agreed on a €15m transfer fee on deadline day. Contrary to some reports, Amougou will not be heading to Chelsea’s partner club RC Strasbourg Alsace. With the transfer window now closed, this move is no longer possible.
Therefore, Amougou will remain at Chelsea for the next three months, continuing his development with the Premier League club, and will likely be loaned to Strasbourg for the following season. As for Andrey Santos (20), he will be making the move to Strasbourg. By the end of this season, the Brazilian will have spent 18 months with Les Alsaciens and shown significant growth during that period.
Romano reports that while Amougou will join Strasbourg as a regular starter, Santos will return to Chelsea with the intention of being integrated into the first-team setup at Stamford bridge.
