BYU Signee AJ Dybantsa Posts 35 Points in Montverde Academy Invitational Opener

The three-day event in Montverde, Florida, brings together top high school teams in an eight-team competition.

One of those teams is AJ Dybantsa’s Utah Prep squad.

Dybantsa Scores 35 Points, Grabs 15 Rebounds in MAIT Opener

BYU signee AJ Dybantsa had an exceptional performance in this game, hitting 7-of-8 from beyond the arc.

On Thursday, Dybantsa and Utah Prep faced Sagemont Prep from Weston, Florida, in the opening game of the MAIT.

Utah Prep Defeats Sagemont Prep, 82-79

Utah Prep, led by Dybantsa, secured a hard-fought 82-79 win over Sagemont.

Dybantsa, the No. 1 recruit in the 2025 class, scored 35 points on 13-of-21 shooting in 32 minutes. The 6-foot-9 forward made 7-of-8 three-pointers and converted 80% of his 10 free throw attempts.

In addition to scoring, Dybantsa grabbed 15 rebounds, recorded five assists, and stole the ball three times. His 15 rebounds were five more than the total Sagemont pulled down as a team (20).

Sagemont’s top scorer was four-star Miami commit Matthew Able, who put up 39 points to keep his team competitive.

In addition to Dybantsa, Utah Prep’s other key scorers included 2026 four-star Anthony Felesi and Washington signee JJ Mandaquit, each contributing 15 points.

BYU signee Xavion Staton played nine minutes off the bench for Utah Prep, collecting five rebounds and one block.
