Ideal Buyout Market Acquisition for the Lakers Just Got Released
The Los Angeles Lakers had an impressive trade deadline recently. Not only did they secure star point guard Luka Doncic, but they also brought in center Mark Williams.
However, the team may still have room to add some depth. After trading Max Christie and Dalton Knecht, the Lakers could use another sharpshooting guard.
It seems the Lakers might have just received a chance from a rival in the Western Conference. Reports suggest the Utah Jazz are preparing to waive guard Josh Richardson. This could be a great opportunity for the Lakers, as Richardson might be the perfect fit for their roster through the buyout market.
With all the recent moves, the Lakers need backcourt help. Richardson could provide a defensive-minded guard who is also capable of shooting well from outside.
While dealing with a heel injury, Richardson is expected to join a playoff contender after his release from Utah. He previously played for the Miami Heat and now looks to continue his season with a new team.
This season, Richardson has averaged 4.0 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. Though he has been a solid shooter in past seasons, his numbers have declined this year.
Typically a 36.3 percent shooter from beyond the arc, Richardson is currently shooting just 27.3 percent in his eight games played this season. While his statistics aren’t eye-catching, he could be the missing piece the Lakers need to round out their roster for a strong finish to the season.
It remains uncertain whether the Lakers will land Richardson, but he could be a solid addition. With an open roster spot, the Lakers are likely to be active in the buyout market as they aim to strengthen their squad before the playoffs.
