Darius Slay mentioned that the Eagles’ aggressive defense would have been tough.

Darius Slay, cornerback for the Philadelphia Eagles, would have been eager for a chance to go up against his former team in the playoffs during this recent NFL season.

In a recent episode of the “Pick a Side” podcast, the experienced defensive back was questioned about which team he would have preferred to compete against.

A team I somewhat wished to play was the Detroit Lions. We were a distinct kind of team. Their defense was robust, but their offense was an adorable attack. Do you understand what I’m saying? “We refer to it as cute since they executed many trick plays,” Slay stated. “Much of this and much of that.” We were like, ‘We’re going to get rid of that adorable stuff, you know? We were a tough, relentless defense. Like they were amazing. This year, their team performed excellently.

“They were similar to those small gorillas found at the zoo that merely gaze at you while sitting there and eating.” “No, we would take them to the jungle and check if they can scale the same trees we climb,” Slay went on. “Since we were thinking, ‘No, we’re not interested in that adorable stuff’.” Since we simply understood. We simply knew. “Yes, we aimed to face the Detroit Lions.”

Slay stated that the Eagles defense would have showcased their superiority over Detroit’s offense.

“I really like Detroit, however.” That’s my other home, one of my residences. Therefore, no objections to them. It’s simply that we wanted to face them, because as I mentioned, they were engaging in excessive cute antics that made us think, ‘Someone really needs to hit them.’ “And we were planning to hit them.”

Slay emphasized once more that even if the Lions were fit next season, it wouldn’t be a just comparison, since both teams would have changed. A significant portion of Lions’ fans have expressed that Detroit might have beaten the Eagles in the playoffs this year, had the team not faced a severe outbreak of injuries.

If the Lions begin the season against the Eagles in 2025, the 34-year-old won’t get a chance to play for Philadelphia, since he was recently cut by the reigning Super Bowl champions.

Slay might find himself on the opposing side of the new league rivalry, having begun his NFL career in Detroit. Lately, he has indicated that he would be pleased to rejoin the team that picked him in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
