The Detroit Lions are keeping some depth on their interior defensive line by re-signing Myles Adams.
While several prominent defensive linemen are coming off the board in free agency, the Detroit Lions are focusing on re-signing their own depth players. According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, the Lions have re-signed defensive lineman Myles Adams to a one-year deal.
The Lions previously added Adams to their 53-man roster from the Seahawks’ practice squad. Adams had spent over four years with Seattle, appearing in 26 games and starting once. After being added to Detroit, he played in four games during the latter part of the season as injuries plagued the defensive line. He recorded four tackles, one sack, two quarterback hits, and a solid 71.6 PFF grade in just 46 defensive snaps.
Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 285 pounds, Adams primarily plays on the interior of the defensive line. He could provide valuable depth as the Lions look to address their interior line needs.
The Lions currently face several questions regarding their defensive tackles: will they re-sign Levi Onwuzurike? When will Alim McNeill return after tearing his ACL? And will a defensive lineman be taken early in the NFL Draft?
For now, the Lions have a familiar depth option, which is unlikely to alter their other defensive line strategies going forward.
