Bruins Star Reportedly Interested in Joining Maple Leafs
With July 1 being less than one week away, the Boston Bruins still have not re-signed Jake DeBrusk. While both parties have expressed interest in keeping their relationship going, a deal has not come to fruition, and a split could be on the way because of it.
While DeBrusk has expressed the desire to remain in Boston, it appears that No. 74 may be exploring his other options as well. According to The Nation Network’s Nick Alberga, there is mutual interest between DeBrusk and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
It was previously reported by Nick Kypreos that the Maple Leafs have DeBrusk on their radar. Thus, hearing that DeBrusk is also open to heading to Toronto is intriguing.
It would be a brutal blow for the Bruins to lose him to the Maple Leafs, as they are currently their biggest rival. In addition, No. 74 is, of course, a very good hockey player.
However, while DeBrusk reportedly may have interest in the idea of becoming a Maple Leaf, there will surely be an array of other teams looking to sign him if he hits the market.
This is because he is a top-six forward with several years left in his prime. This naturally will make him a hot commodity, and it will be interesting to see if the Bruins can get him signed from here.
