‘STOP PLAYING WITH ME’: Amik Robertson Wants the ‘Depth Player’ Label Shed Amik Robertson, a cornerback for the Detroit Lions, has expressed dissatisfaction with the title of “depth player.”
Robertson, who joined the Lions’ overhauled secondary from the Las Vegas Raiders, hopes to prove his detractors wrong.
Robertson rushed to social media and said, “Dawg, you need to bury this depth player trash. Lol. Please quit fooling with me. You’re going to see, though. Maintain that same energy.”
Contract & Performance
Detroit signed Robertson to a $9.25 million, two-year contract with $1.5 million in incentives.
His time with the Raiders was characterized by steady performance, including two interceptions in consecutive seasons.
Robertson had 111 tackles and four interceptions over his four seasons with Las Vegas. Coach Campbell praises Amik Robertson.
Head coach Dan Campbell cited Amik Robertson’s competitive spirit as a major factor for his acquisition.
“His competitive nature was the first thing that struck me…” He competes regardless of whether he is indoors or outdoors.
“A feisty, competitive, and challenging cornerback with the ability to play both inside and outside,” Campbell said.
Impact on Lions’ Secondary Robertson will be part of a Lions secondary that includes newcomers Carlton Davis, Terrion Arnold, and Ennis Rakestraw, all of whom are expected to make important contributions this season.
With Robertson’s dedication and competitive temperament, the Lions’ secondary appears to be on track to exceed expectations.
