Antoine Dupont’s Dazzling Display Secures Gold for France in Epic Rugby Sevens Final

 

 

In a thrilling final at the Rugby Sevens World Cup, France clinched the gold medal with a decisive 28-7 victory over Fiji, thanks to an exceptional performance by Antoine Dupont.

The game, held on French soil, was a showcase of Dupont’s brilliance and skill, marking a historic achievement for the host nation.

 

The match began with an explosive pace, as Fiji’s Joseva Talacolo raced away to score the opening try just 2 minutes in, putting the Fijians ahead 7-0.

France responded with determination, and by the 5th minute, Jefferson-Lee Joseph had leveled the score with a try facilitated by a brilliant offload from Andy Timo. Despite a few tense moments and some unforced errors, both teams entered the break tied at 7-all.

 

The second half saw Antoine Dupont step into the spotlight, transforming the game with his extraordinary play. Within minutes of his introduction, Dupont’s influence was evident.

In the 8th minute, he broke free from a kickoff, showcasing his speed and agility to set up Aaron Grandidier for France’s second try, giving the hosts a 14-7 lead. Dupont’s dominance continued as he scored twice in quick succession, first diving over in the 12th minute after a powerful rolling maul, and then again in the 13th minute with a solo effort that virtually sealed the match.
