Breaking: The commencement date of the 2024 Pacific Nations Cup has been confirmed by the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU).

Rugby fans are looking forward to the redesigned 2024 Pacific Nations Cup since it looks like it will have an interesting new format. In preparation for the expanded Men’s Rugby World Cup in 2027, World Rugby, in collaboration with the six participating unions (Canada, Fiji, Japan, Samoa, Tonga, and the USA), is organizing this year’s event with the goal of increasing rugby competitiveness worldwide. There are two pools in the competition. Fiji, Samoa, and Tonga are included in Pool A, and Japan, the United States, and Canada are included in Pool B. During a three-week pool stage that runs from August 23 to September 7th, each side will play two matches, one of which will be at home. Each pool’s top two teams will move on to the semifinals.

 

 

At Tokyo, Japan’s Prince Chichibu Memorial Stadium, the fifth-place playoff will begin the elimination stages on September 14. The first semi-final will take place the same day and at the same location as this, while the second semi-final will follow the following day. The third-place play-off and grand final of the competition will take place at the Hanazono Rugby Stadium in Osaka, Japan, on September 21. At the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva at 6 p.m. on August 23, the FIJI Water Flying Fijians will play a formidable Manu Samoa team in what looks to be an exciting opening match. Now in its 17th year, the Pacific Nations Cup has grown to be a major rugby event. The Fiji Water Flying Fijians hold the title as the reigning champions. They won the cup at the Prince Chichibu Memorial Rugby Ground in Tokyo, Japan, last year. This makes six championship wins in total for the team, including four straight from 2015 to 2018. Fans and teams alike are getting excited about a tournament that will act as a springboard for future international contests in addition to showcasing top-notch rugby.
