With the Miami Dolphins rearranging Tyreek Hill’s contract, which apparently gives the All-Pro the largest amount of guaranteed money ever at the position, the wide receiver market in the NFL saw yet another move on Saturday.
The restructured contract is worth $90 million over the next three years, with $65 million of it guaranteed. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who cited a source, Hill’s new deal does not add more years to the extension he signed in 2022. The $106.5 million in updated fully guaranteed money is the most-ever for a wide receiver.
Since the Dolphins acquired Hill in a 2022 deal with the Kansas City Chiefs, Hill has been the unquestioned leader of Miami’s offense, dominating 30.7 percent of his team’s targets and leading the NFL with 3,509 yards (h/t ESPN). With 1,799 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns last season—the most in the league—as well as an NFL-best 112.4 receiving yards per game, Hill recently took the top slot on the NFL Top 100 list.
Although the enormous amount of guaranteed money contained in Hill’s deal is unlikely to have a significant impact on Aiyuk’s negotiations with the 49ers, it could further slow down the talks and increase the market for the position.
In each of his last two seasons, Aiyuk recorded 1,000 or more yards of play (1,015 in 2022 and 1,342 in 2023). He also was voted NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his eight-reception, 129-yard and two-touchdown effort in the 49ers’ Week 1 triumph over the Pittsburgh Steelers, helping him achieve Second-Team All-Pro accolades for the first time in his professional career.
