Running back Jahmyr Gibbs and cornerback Terrion Arnold left the field during training camp on Monday night due to injuries, but Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell said the players are “going to be fine.”

In the first round of the NFL Draft, the Lions selected two players from Alabama in quick succession: Gibbs, who was selected with the 12th pick in 2023, and Arnold, who was selected with the 24th pick in 2024.

During the preseason, NFL teams are not required to provide injury information. According to reports, Arnold had a pectoral injury and Gibbs a hamstring ailment.

Immediately, two days ago, Campbell stated, “My phone is blowing up,” during an interview on Detroit is WXYT-FM program “Costa and Jansen with Heather” on Wednesday. “I am getting so many messages saying, ‘Dude, look what happened to Gibbs!'” TA, oh my god! It is finished. These reports are all available. And I reply, “All right.” Anyway, I believe that everything will work out here, okay? I believe we will be alright.

After leading Detroit to its first NFC Championship Game since 1991, Gibbs ran for 945 yards and 10 touchdowns on 182 rushes as a rookie and caught 52 catches for 316 yards and one touchdown in 15 regular-season games. Gibbs was selected to the Pro Bowl.

In Detroit is 14-3 loss to the New York Giants on Thursday night, Arnold started in place of Gibbs, who did not play in the Lions’ preseason opener. Arnold played the first three drives for the New York offense, but on 13 snaps, he did not log any numbers.

Ennis Rakestraw of Missouri, the Lions’ second-round selection in 2024, began the game against the Giants at the other cornerback position. Rakestraw’s ankle ailment also prevented him from practicing on Monday night.

“Until he got hurt the other day, TA was having a good camp,” Campbell stated. “Ennis is doing well at camp.”

Due to Carlton Davis’ hamstring injury, a former Auburn standout, Detroit has also practiced without another cornerback this week.

Campbell pronounced, “Carlton is good.” “He will be alright; he is just got this hammy to deal with.”

At Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, the Lions will play the Kansas City Chiefs again on Saturday at 3 p.m. CDT. The match will be broadcast on NFL Network.

On September 8, Detroit plays its first Sunday night game of the 2024 season at 7:20 p.m. at home against the Los Angeles Rams to begin the regular season.
