VERIFIED: Barrett’s destiny is confirmed by the star’s irreverent comment.

Barrett’s destiny is confirmed by the star’s irreverent comment.

As he gets ready to leave the Parramatta Eels, Trent Barrett’s coaching future looks to be signed, sealed, and delivered. The new head coach, Jason Ryles, has not had Barrett in his plans past this season as he continues to completely revamp the team. The former coach of the Bulldogs and Manly has been linked to the Broncos for a number of weeks, and Adam Reynolds’ remarks on Monday imply that it is inevitable after Barrett was spotted in Brisbane’s sheds following the game on Friday night.

Reynolds told Triple M that she believed the man was only checking in with Kev and the other coaches. “But, my goodness, our coaching staff is going to be attractive. Include Matty Ballin in there as well.”

After John Cartwright joined with Hull FC, Ballin is one of the few assistants still with the Broncos; the highly regarded Lee Briers will be heading back to England. On Monday, the Eels announced their coaching staff for 2025, and a number of well-known players were included. Along with Nathan Brown, the former head coach of the Knights, Dragons, and Warriors, Scott Wisemantel, a former Wallabies assistant, will join Ryles.

Former Roosters prop Sam Moa and Eels veteran Nathan Cayless will also be on staff.

According to a statement from Eels Chief Executive Jim Sarantinos, “our incoming head coach Jason Ryles has assembled a team of assistants that he feels will help him bring the best out of the playing group.” The team is excited to welcome the new coaching staff in November. “I also want to express my gratitude to the coaching and performance staff that we currently have, who will be leaving our club at the end of the current campaign, on behalf of the board and management.

“Although the season has been difficult, our staff has demonstrated a great devotion to the team and the club throughout this time. We sincerely appreciate their assistance, and we want to acknowledge them before the season ends.”
