Every Liverpool player against Union SG six out but some new face in training
Liverpool face Union Saint-Gilloise in the Europa League and Jurgen Klopp will be without seven players for the group stage. Jurgen Klopp takes his Liverpool team to Belgium to face Union SG Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp can afford to make as many changes as he wants when Liverpool face Union Saint-Gilloise in the sixth and final Europa League group game on Thursday. With the Reds beating LASK 4-0 at Anfield in the last round and Toulouse drawing 0-0 with Union SG, their progress to the knockout stages is assured as group winners. Kloppand’s men have so far collected 12 points from a possible 15, with the only boost coming from a 3-2 loss to Toulouse on matchday four. The top finish of the subgroup guarantees access to the top 16, while the runner-up will face the third-placed team from the Champions League in the semi-finals. While this makes this match an effective death rubber for Liverpool, it’s anything but for Union SG, who need to win and hope Toulouse lose against LASK to have any chance of survival. He can also finish last in Group E if he loses and LASK takes three points. Diogo Jota (muscle) and Alexis Mac Allister (knee) missed training on Wednesday and will be out for a short time for Liverpool, while Andy Robertson (shoulder) and Thiago (thigh) are out until the New Year. The timetable for Stefan Bajčetić’s return is currently unknown, but Joël Matipand#039’s season is over after suffering an ACL injury earlier in the month. With nothing happening, Klopp decided to keep some of his most important stars on Merseyside. Alisson, the dominant player of the season, skipper Virgil van Dijk, vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold and top scorer Mohamed Salah did not make the trip. Their absence could pave the way for some young options as they have plenty on the plane to Belgium. Perhaps the most notable names are midfielder Tom Hill and forward Lewis Koumas, neither of whom have yet played for the first team this season.
