Flying Fijians Take Flight: Spectacular Win Over Japan Launches Them to Ninth in World Rugby Rankings!

The Flying Fijians are set to ascend to ninth place in the World Rugby rankings following their impressive 41-17 victory over Japan in the Pacific Nations Cup final.

Currently ranked 10th with 78.43 points, Fiji’s decisive win not only secures them the championship but also elevates them above Australia in the standings. The official update to the World Rugby Men’s Rankings will take place tomorrow, marking a significant milestone for the Fijian team.

In contrast, Japan, after their defeat, will drop to 14th place, falling behind Samoa, who clinched a victory over the USA, 18-13, in the third-place playoff. This shift means Samoa will rise to 13th in the rankings.

Fiji’s triumph was characterized by a powerful second-half performance that silenced the Hanazono Rugby Stadium crowd. The Flying Fijians showcased their strength, with Vuate Karawalevu and Ponipate Loganimasi both scoring two tries each, complemented by a try from Albert Tuisue.

This victory marks a historic sixth Pacific Nations Cup title for Fiji, reinforcing their status as a dominant force in international rugby.
