Ronnie O’Sullivan Withdraws from British Open, Replaced by Rising Star Lewis Ullah

Ronnie O’Sullivan, one of snooker’s biggest stars, has withdrawn from the Unibet British Open, which kicks off today at the Centaur Arena in Cheltenham.

O’Sullivan was originally scheduled to play against Thailand’s Manasawin Phetmalaikul at 7 p.m. on Monday. However, in a last-minute change, O’Sullivan has been replaced by Lewis Ullah, the highest-ranked player available from the 2024 Q School rankings.

The British Open, a prestigious event on the snooker calendar, will run from September 25 to September 29 at Cheltenham Racecourse’s Centaur Arena.

Fans were eagerly awaiting the matchup between O’Sullivan, a six-time world champion, and Phetmalaikul, who has been making waves on the snooker scene. Despite O’Sullivan’s withdrawal, the tournament still promises to deliver exciting matchups, with some of the sport’s top players competing.

Lewis Ullah now has a significant opportunity to showcase his talent on a major stage, potentially making his mark in the tournament.
