Liverpool start the season strongly
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp could be working with Michael Edwards again as the legendary former sporting director takes on a new role. Edwards, who has been linked with a number of high-profile clubs over the past year, has decided to branch out into independent consulting.
The 44-year-old left the Anfield job after a remarkable 11 years. His belief in a data-driven approach helped him rebuild the Merseysiders and his work, along with Klopp’s arrival in 2015, led to Premier League and Champions League victories.

It was one of the most successful periods in the history of the club. But the scale of Edwards’ work was put into context after his sudden departure in the summer of 2022.
The former Portsmouth pundit was replaced by his number two, Julian Ward, but only lasted a year before leaving. Ward’s replacement, Jorg Schmadtke, was hand-picked by Klopp.

Jurgen Klopp could discover an opportunity to work with Michael Edwards
Several changes at the club have caused a shake-up at Anfield, where Liverpool finished fifth in the Premier League last season. The jury is also out on a massive summer overhaul that saw Liverpool spend just under £150m on a brand new midfield. Liverpool’s recent struggles have made Edwards’ work even better. The former Reds boss could now work with Klopp again if he decides to help the Reds in his new advisory role.
According to The Athletic, Edwards will take up a non-executive role at Ludonautics and will work alongside former Liverpool scientific director Ian Graham. The job will allow Edwards to start his own consultancy and could lead to a reunion with Klopp if he so chooses.
