Alisson’s excitement explained the Brazilian boss’s “difficult” demands on the Liverpool man

Alisson was one of the few standout performers for Liverpool last season during a difficult campaign for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Brazil’s caretaker manager has made it clear that Alisson’s ongoing battle with Ederson for a starting spot at international level is far from over.
The Liverpool goalkeeper was included in the Seleção squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia on Saturday and Peru last night, but did not feature in either match. It comes after caretaker boss Ramon Menezes left Alisson out of Brazil’s 23-man squad midway through last season in March. Even Ederson was surprised by the decision.
Tite, the former coach of the national team, chose Qatar as the first goalkeeper for the World Cup. Alisson now faces a battle to prove himself to caretaker Fernando Diniz as he bids to become the undisputed first choice.
Sharing his views on the situation in a press conference last week, Diniz made it clear that he was happy to let the Premier League’s two killers give him a constant selection headache. “I don’t know. I don’t have that statement from Tite because Ederson also played a few games. I think it’s always difficult. It was also difficult for Tite,” he explained.
“I think both are in the top three goalkeepers in the world, so it’s always difficult for you to judge and decide. Anyone can play at any time. “But especially, including Perri, Bento, Weverton, among others. But these two [Alisson and Ederson] have played at a very high level for a long time. “Then you have to feel the moment to decide. We’ll start with Ederson for now, but that’s a debate that’s always open.
