Ronaldo Koeman has claimed there is still a chance for Ryan Gravenberch to return to the Netherlands squad. The Liverpool midfielder has been ruled out of both senior and under-21 international duty this week. After joining Bayern Munich Reds in the summer transfer window, Gravenberch left the Netherlands Under-21 team in September. Instead, he wanted to take time to settle at Anfield and adapt to his new surroundings – although Koeman criticized the decision at the time. Subscribe to our Liverpool FC newsletter

And while the 21-year-old has scored one goal and provided two assists in seven appearances for the Reds, Koeman insisted Gravenberch did not have enough talent to warrant a call-up. Koeman said, via Nu.nl: “We have a definite opinion about canceling the Dutch youngster. He hasn’t played much yet. I think he is still a great talent and I hope he plays a lot at Liverpool and continues to develop. Then he is definitely a Dutch national team player.
