Liverpool complete ‘Victor Osimhen deal’ as Jurgen Klopp eyes Chelsea payback

Jurgen Klopp failed to reach his desired Liverpool transfer mark ahead of Sadio Mane
Liverpool have reportedly completed a deal which could see Napoli striker Victor Osimheni sign from under Chelsea’s noses. The Reds have been admirers of the Nigerian international for some time and it looks like Jurgen Klopp may have pulled off a major transfer coup by stealing a march against the Blues.

Reports in Italy claim the Merseyside outfit have reached an agreement with Osimheni’s representatives, who have since persuaded the forward to end negotiations over a new contract with Napoli.
Since leaving Lille in 2021, the 24-year-old has scored 56 goals in 91 Serie A appearances and is regarded as one of the deadliest goalscorers in European football.
According to Italian journalist Valter De Maggio, speaking to Televomero via Napoli, Liverpool Area “already reached an agreement” with Osimhen’s agents. And it has hampered talks with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis over a contract extension, with his future now looking uncertain.
Victor Osimhen: Napoli star could be on his way to Liverpool. However, Liverpool’s deal is said to be for one player only, meaning they still need to hold talks with the Serie A club. De Laurentiis has proved a notoriously difficult negotiator in the past and would likely demand more than £100m from the target, who has six goals in eight games this season.
Osimheni’s contract expires in June 2025, giving Napoli the risky options of trying to change their mind or sell, although he still has a high market value. And the Reds could benefit if they continue to turn to the in-form striker.
Osimhene and his agent Roberto Calenda are said to have gone back on their word after Liverpool’s ‘invasion’, having originally said they wanted to stay at Napoli. However, in the last month, the situation has changed due to the recent dispute between the striker and the club.
