Van Dijk revealed he is overwhelmed playing with his £35million Liverpool teammate, who is so wonderful on the ball

Virgil van Dijk has praised the form of Alexis MacAllister in his role as Liverpool boss, insisting he is playing at such a high level.
Van Dijk told TNT Sports how the Argentine started life at Anfield after leaving Brighton in the summer.
Alexis Mac Allister seems to have had a rocky start on Merseyside. There was no doubt that signing him for £35m looked like a huge coup for Liverpool. Of course he was a vital part of Brighton’s south coast success. And he helped Argentina win the World Cup last year as well.
Unfortunately, Mac Allister was often a midfielder who started in a deeper role. It was a summer of transfer for the Reds, with Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and James Milner all leaving the club.
The role doesn’t exactly play to Mac Allister’s strengths. And you wouldn’t be at all surprised if Liverpool prioritized a new holding midfielder in one of the next few windows. Virgil van Dijk praises Alexis MacAllister
However, Virgil van Dijk praised his new teammate and stated that he really likes playing in the same team.
“Mac Allister, so good with the ball, without the ball,” he told TNT Sports. – He clearly plays in the sixth position. This may not be his favorite position. But he does it at such a high level. And of course, it’s also so important to me, the middle half.

Another holding midfielder must be a priority for the next window
Liverpool fans have noticed that Mac Allister has had few opportunities in the role he wants. The problem is that Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch are incredible players. And Szoboszlai in particular makes a huge difference when he can get past the final third.
Some of the moves other clubs have made this summer highlight just how important a quality midfielder is in today’s game. So it was a mistake that the Reds didn’t find it. Wataru Endo was a surprise signing. And the minutes he’s had so far suggest he was brought in to provide depth.
Having said all that, van Dijk clearly believes that Mac Allister will do a great job in the role anyway.
