Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool have a £12 million talent capable of performing excellently
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has praised Kostas Tsimika ahead of the Reds’ upcoming Europa League game. Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the Liverpool manager said the 27-year-old had improved after finding his rhythm as a regular starter. Tsimikas has started six of Liverpool’s eight games since left-back Andrew Robertson suffered a shoulder injury on international duty. The Scotland international required surgery and is expected to be out at least until the new year. Tsimikas is likely to start again for Liverpool when they host Austrian side LASK at Anfield. “Really, Really Happy” Speaking to the Liverpool media, Klopp suggested that Tsimika was not at his best when he stepped in ahead of Robertson, but he is doing quite well now. “Obviously, Kosti also needed pace,” said the Reds boss. “Not that he’s been flying since he joined the team, but he knows that himself. “And that’s very important for a player who has been waiting so long for games, things like that, he thinks that because you have games, now it’s going to work. But it’s not like that. “But he’s getting better now, the last two games have been really good. “The game before the international break, Brentford, you could see how much of a change there was after he scored, he was also in Diogo’s goal and was a lot more confident as well. “And we all know that when he’s steady he can produce nice things, especially crosses, ball plays and all that, we need that. So yeah, really, really happy.” Kostas Tsimikas “brings so much joy” to the Liverpool dressing room Tsimikas has been at Liverpool since August 2020 when he joined Olympiakos Reds in a deal worth around £12m. His time at Anfield started in fairly halting fashion, but he’s just getting on with it and stepping up when called upon. It’s great to see Tsimikas now playing regular football – and enjoying it – and we hope he can get on with life at Anfield. The Greek international is also so popular in the Liverpool dressing room. For example, Alisson Becker recently said: “He’s a lovely guy. I think he brings so much joy to our team here every day. “Working with him is a pleasure. Not to mention his qualities as a player, he is also an amazing player; top skills, but [he’s] even better as a person.”
