Phil Thompson says the £16million Liverpool player is simply not getting the recognition he deserves
Phil Thompson has called for more recognition for Wataru Endo after the midfielder’s decisive performance for Liverpool against Fulham. The Japan international scored his first goal for the Reds to make it 3-3 and Liverpool managed to collect three important points at Anfield. The midfielder, signed by VfB Stuttgart for £16m this summer, is a left-field signing for many Liverpool supporters, despite Endo’s incredible reputation in Germany. However, Endo’s life in the Premier League was slow as he saw most of his Reds minutes from the bench. Speaking to TalkSport, however, Liverpool legend Thompson has now suggested the midfielder deserves more credit after his impressive display for the Reds against Fulham. Thompson said of the Japanese team: “Endo scored a great goal. I don’t think he gets the credit he deserves for that.” Wataru Endo proved his worth for Liverpool against Fulham Endo has had a bit of a miserable career at Liverpool so far, but that could now change after the midfielder’s goal against Fulham. In addition to his quality work, the goal showed that Endo has something to offer the Reds, although early opinions of the Japanese were far from positive. Endo is indeed a brilliant midfielder who could become a key member of Jürgen Klopp’s team plans over the coming years. And this weekend could be the start of something great for Endo, who can now be more highly rated after playing a huge part in Liverpool’s three crucial points on Sunday.
