Sky Sports’ brutal Liverpool vs Man Utd prediction says it all, fans are concerned

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has dropped a firm prediction for Manchester United’s Premier League clash at Anfield on Sunday. Erik ten Hag’s men crashed out of the Champions League after a 1-0 defeat by Bayern Munich at Old Trafford on Tuesday, and United face a huge test this weekend. The United manager is without captain Bruno Fernandes in his starting line-up as the midfielder is suspended after being booked in the 3-0 defeat by Bournemouth. Harry Maguire, who has seen a remarkable career resurgence this season, could also be a doubt for Liverpool after limping off in the first half against Bayern. Ten Hag currently have a whopping 13 “potential absentees” for the trip to Anfield, with the former Ajax boss under increasing pressure in United’s season so far. Merson Prediction United vs Liverpool Liverpool have been in impressive form in the Premier League this season and are currently top of the table, with the Reds one point behind Arsenal in the title race. United, on the other hand, are currently sixth in the league table and six points clear of the Premier League’s top four ahead of Liverpool’s game at Anfield. Speaking in his Sportskeeda column, Merson believes Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side will come out on top and predicted a 3-0 victory for the Reds. The Sky Sports pundit added that he expects Liverpool to “tear them apart” despite the likes of Alexis MacAllister being “suspected due to serious injuries”. “I expect Liverpool to tear them apart so I’ll win 3-0 at home,” wrote Merson. “Alexis MacAllister has a serious injury but Jurgen Klopp has a few options in midfield. “Wataru Endo has played a few games recently and Harvey Elliott’s cameos have been impressive but I think Curtis Jones knows how big the game is so I expect him to start at Anfield.” All eyes on Ten Hag for United’s game against Liverpool Merson said he is “not worried” about his Liverpool v United prediction, underlining the challenge ahead of Ten Hag. Ten Hag has been frustrated by United’s lack of consistency this season and the Dutchman arrives at Anfield on the back of his side’s Champions League exit. United had a poor result at Anfield last season and Klopp’s Liverpool side are overwhelming favorites in the Premier League. Merson insisted that he “expects nothing from United in the game” and even claimed that Ten Hag “will throw players on the pitch”. He said in his column: “I think for the Manchester United team, Ten Hag just throws players on the pitch. – I don’t expect anything from Manchester United because they just haven’t been good enough this season. “Liverpool, on the other hand, are league leaders and with games coming thick and fast over the festive season, they will definitely need to win this one, especially with a game against Arsenal on the horizon.”
