Liverpool are now stepping up plans to sign the £52m player after what happened against Arsenal.

 

Liverpool are set to step up their plans to sign Gonaclo Inacio Kostas Tsimika following his injury against Arsenal last night. The Greek international caught Jürgen Klopp, as a result Tsimikas broke his collarbone and the left back now has to spend months on the treatment table. Although Joe Gomez impressed against Arsenal, it is clear that Liverpool will now have to dive into the January transfer market to solve their defensive crisis, with Andy Robertson and Joel Matip also out injured. And now, according to the Mirror, plans to sign Sporting Lisbon star Inacio are now being accelerated, with the Reds targeting the Portugal international. With a release clause of £52m, the defender would be an expensive but worthwhile signing for Liverpool and Inacio is highly regarded across Europe. Indeed, Liverpool knew in January that they needed to bring in a defender and Tsimkas’ injury now leaves the Reds with no choice but to dive into the market. And Inacio could be a dream signing for the Reds, as the Portugal international adds depth to the central position and allows the likes of Gomez to cover the left role. While £52 million might be a lot, Inacio has shown that he is good enough to make the jump to the Premier League and become a star at a club like Liverpool. And Tsimikas’ injury gives the Anfield side the perfect excuse to make a move for Inaco, who could jump at the chance to join Liverpool in the January window.
