Firmino has had an excellent start for his current employers, scoring a hat-trick on his debut, but has failed to score in nine consecutive league games and has made just six appearances since then. Given that the 32-year-old captained Al-Ahli in each of Saudi Arabia’s first ten matches, it must come as a shock to see Firmino now out of favor and forced to settle for cameo appearances. The 2019 Champions League winner is understood to be unhappy with his current situation and will look for a solution when the transfer window opens next week. Football365 reported that the Brazilian wants a return to Europe or even the chance to play in his homeland. A report in the Daily Mirror has suggested a move to Saudi Arabia could be on the cards if the Liverpool hero is to switch, with Al-Fateh and Al-Ettifaq both interested in a deal. The latter is of course led by Steven Gerrard, who has already brought former Reds Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum to his club. Commenting on the possibility of adding Firmino to his squad, Gerrard recently said: “Obviously I know Bobby very well and I was a big fan. I have been following him for years. At the moment he is an Al-Ahliand player, so it is very difficult for me to comment on the situation. But I love Bobby Firmino since the first day I watched him and I’m a big fan. Al-Ettifaq have endured a slow start to the Saudi Arabian Pro League season and are 26 points behind league leaders Al-Hilal after 18 games.
