Olivia Dunne’s Boyfriend Celebrates Her National Championship as She Debates Returning for 5th Year at LSU
“I haven’t quite thought about it completely,” Dunne said about her possible return to LSU.
Olivia Dunne is feeling the love from her boyfriend Paul Skenes after her and LSU gymnastics’ big NCAA national championship win.
The LSU Tigers gymnastics team secured their first-ever national championship with a score of 198.225 to beat fellow finalists California-Berkley, Utah and Florida. And afterwards, Dunne, in her fourth year on the team, couldn’t contain her excitement.
However, she wasn’t alone in her celebration, as her boyfriend, MLB prospect Skenes, took to social media to show her some love.
In a simple Instagram post, Skenes reposted a photo of the LSU gymnastics team holding their championship trophy with Dunne front and center.
While winning the championship is the perfect way to end her college gymnastics career, Dunne is considering returning to LSU for a fifth year, which she’s eligible for due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
During a recent interview on Today, Dunne said that she is currently living in the moment and soaking up the championship win, and stopped short of confirming her return for an additional season. “It definitely makes me want to come back, but I haven’t quite thought about it completely,” she said.
Dunne also talked about the big win, expressing her excitement as it all keeps sinking in.
“You know what, it is still feeling just unreal,” Dunne said. “I’m still trying to get my voice back from cheering so loud. It was an unforgettable experience, and I’ll probably be thinking about it for the rest of my life.”
