Royce White – BIG3
In the 2019 BIG3 draft, White was selected as the top pick and will now come back to Power as a co-captain for the 2023 season. Known for his team-oriented approach, intense effort, and strong passing skills, White has helped Power get closer to championship success. Working alongside Coach Nancy “Lady Magic” Lieberman, a renowned figure in playmaking forwards, White has been a vocal supporter of the BIG3’s mental health initiative, “Be Well.”
Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, White was the 2009 Mr. Basketball Minnesota and won two state championships before deciding to attend University of Minnesota and then Iowa State. At Iowa State, White was one of the most versatile and athletic players in the country.
He ended up being named to the BIG-12 first team and was the only player in the nation to lead his team in the five major statistical categories (points, rebounds, blocks, steals, assists).
White was selected as the 16th overall pick by the Houston Rockets during the 2012 NBA draft. Yet, his time in the NBA was brief because of issues related to insufficient mental health support and awareness within the league.
