Moose Calls On Old Heads
JOSH McGuire has put the onus on the senior playing group to lead by example as the Broncos strive to back up last week’s great result.
The 50-18 win over the Panthers last Friday will mean little if the Broncos do not play well against the Sharks on Thursday night.
“That’s the key for us now – to back that up,” said McGuire yesterday.
“We have been a bit hit and miss this year.
“As a playing group we need to be backing that up now.
“This is a big game, considering where we sit in the season.
“We need to start stringing some good games together.”
McGuire and Sam Thaiday are by far the most-experienced forwards in the Broncos’ pack.
Their contributions need to be relied upon so they can continue to support the efforts of the young forwards.
Players like Tevita Pangai junior, Joe Ofahengaue and Matt Lodge have been firing.
But they can’t do it without their leaders.
“As a senior playing group we need to lead by example,” said McGuire.
“I think Sammy (Thaiday) has been great, and all the senior guys have as well.
“But it is on us to really set an example for our young guys.
“We have got some freaks at the moment, some core young guys coming through that just needed to be guided and directed.
“Then those guys can really do some damage.”
