done deal: Toronto Blue Jays have make a classic signing to……..

Aaron Sanchez and the Toronto Blue Jays reunite, signing a pitcher to a minor league contract.
Aaron Sanchez, a former All-Star starting pitcher, is reportedly making a comeback to the Toronto Blue Jays organization, five years after he left the franchise.

Aaron Sanchez, a right-handed pitcher, is joining the Toronto Blue Jays on a minor league contract, according to a report from Sportsnet’s Jamie Campbell on Monday night.

Since 2022, when he split the season between the starting rotations of the Minnesota Twins and the Washington Nationals, Sanchez has not pitched in the major leagues. However, the right-hander was a member of the Blue Jays from 2014 to 2019 and was once an All-Star.

In the first round of the 2010 MLB Draft, Toronto chose Sanchez. Shortly after turning twenty-two, he made his way to the major leagues, where he excelled in 2014 and 2015 as a reliever.

In 2016, Sanchez achieved a record of 15-2 in his first year as a full-time starter, topping the American League in terms of winning percentage (.882) and ERA (3.00). In the AL MVP vote that year, he finished sixth.

Sanchez, however, was only able to make eight starts in 2017 and just twenty in 2018 due to a few trips on the injured list. By mid-2019, Sanchez had a 6.07 ERA and was 3-14. He was traded to the Houston Astros.

Sanchez sustained a torn capsule in his right shoulder after spending about a month in Houston, which would prevent him from playing in 2020 as well. In 2021, he came back to play nine games with the San Francisco Giants.

Sanchez did not receive a big league call-up from either of the Twins or Arizona Diamondbacks, spending 2023 alternating between their minor league systems.

With a record of 16–19, the Blue Jays are now last in the AL East. With a 4.51 ERA and a 1.385 WHIP, their pitching staff is ranked No. 25 in the league and No. 23 in the league.

When he puts pen to paper, Sanchez is going to the minors, but it might not be long before he dons a Blue Jays uniform once more.
