Bob Warming, the men’s soccer coach at Penn State, announces his retirement.
Campus Park, Pennsylvania — Bob Warming, the men’s soccer coach at Penn State, announced his retirement today, November 16, following a successful 40-year career that included multiple championships and an impact on hundreds of student-athletes. With an astounding 461-290-82 career record that includes an astounding 28 conference titles, his record is rather noteworthy.
Warming, who has led the team for the previous eight seasons as head coach of the Nittany Lions, will stay on to assist with the changeover. The 12-th head coach of Penn State will be found nationwide starting right away.
Warming ranks eighth in NCAA Division I men’s soccer history with 461 victories at the end of his collegiate coaching career. Warming was one of only three active coaches and five all-time to lead two different institutions to the NCAA College Cup. She was also the recipient of two National Coach of the Year awards and two Big Ten Coach of the Year awards.
Warming expressed gratitude to “everyone who has been a part of this collegiate coaching journey.” “I’ve been extremely lucky. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to work with, know, and coach so many incredible people. People I admire, adore, and respect. People from whom I’ve learned a great deal about the ongoing difficulties of mentoring, instructing, and leading.
Relationships have endured despite the passage of time, and it has been amazing to watch so many former players grow into outstanding men in their careers and fantastic spouses for their families. Two of those who went on to become head coaches at university levels have teams competing in this week’s NCAA Division I Tournament.

Director of Athletics Sandy Barbour remarked, “Bob Warming has made such a significant impact on the lives of student-athletes at Penn State and the other institutions where he has coached.” “Throughout his incredible career, Bob has been a fantastic representative for Penn State, leading our men’s soccer team with integrity, high character, a positive outlook, and a grin every day. We at Penn State are sorry to hear that Bob is leaving Penn State as a coach, but we are also grateful for his influence on our community and excited for his next chapter in life. As they put their family first, we hope and feel well for him and Cindy.
