Fas Are Roasting ESPN Over WNBA Player Rankings For 2024 Season

ESPN recently released its top-25 WNBA players for the upcoming 2024 season, and, according to fans, there were a few head-scratching decisions.

For one, Caitlin Clark, the No. 1 overall draft pick to the Indiana Fever in last month’s WNBA Draft, was left off the list. That’s because of rookie’s not being eligible to make the cut.

The story clearly stated that rookie’s were not included in this list, but fans did not seem to care about that rule on a recent Instagram post, which revealed the top-ten players for this season.

“Four Aces players in the top 10 of our WNBA preseason top 25 player ranking is tough,” ESPNW wrote. “Link in bio to see the full list, which excludes rookies.”

As you can imagine, fans were quick to jump on the post and question the credibility of the list, disregarding the disclaimer about rookies.

“I guess Caitlin will have to prove you all wrong yet again. The people ranking this must be the ones who voted for Gobert DPOY,” one fan commented under the post.

Clark enters the WNBA after a collegiate career at Iowa that saw her become the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer. She played in two preseason games with the Fever, scoring 21 points in her debut and just 12 in her second game.

The No. 1 player in the WNBA this season, according to ESPN, is Las Vegas Aces star A’Ja Wilson, followed by Breanna Stewart of the New York Liberty.

Fellow Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu, who averaged 17 points,5.6 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game last season, checked in all the way down at No. 12.

And since ESPN only displayed the top-ten on the Instagram post, fans were left wondering, ‘where’s Ionescu?’

“Sabrina snubbed,” one fan commented.

“Sabrina not top 10…” added another.

Seattle Storm guard Jewell Lloyd, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA draft, was down at No. 9 despite leading the league in scoring a season ago with 24.7 points per game.

“Jewell Lloyd should be higher in my opinion,” one fan politely commented.

“Y’all know that Jewell Lloyd needs to be WAY higher on that list,” said another.
